Yale-NUS College, a collaboration between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Yale University, seeks to hire a Lecturer in Chinese language.
The successful candidate is expected to teach courses of different levels and contribute to the development of a comprehensive Chinese language program at Yale-NUS College. The initial appointment will be for one year, beginning in August 2014. The appointment is potentially renewable for up to three years.
We seek applicants with a master’s degree or higher in a Chinese language, literature, culture, linguistics, education, second-language acquisition, pedagogy, or a related field. Candidates should have experience teaching Chinese at the college level, and possess a commitment to creative and effective undergraduate teaching and mentoring. To apply, we request that candidates submit a teaching statement (in both English and Mandarin), and a teaching portfolio, which should include sample classroom exercises, communicative technologies used, and student evaluations. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit a video demonstration in both English and Mandarin discussing the candidate’s teaching philosophy and experience.
