Broadway Mandarin Immersion, located in Venice, CA and part of Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), is seeking motivated applicants for the full-time position of elementary Mandarin teacher. Broadway’s Mandarin Immersion program, which serves grades K-5, operates on the 50/50 model. Successful applicants will be enthusiastic collaborators who can develop innovative instructional units with their teaching partners. Candidates should have a strong understanding of second language acquisition across the four language skills, and be able to integrate Chinese culture in creative classroom lessons. Teachers work in partnership with administration, staff, and parents to foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
Prior experience in dual language elementary education as well as project-based learning highly valued; training in Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) strongly desired. Candidates must have native-level proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin (traditional characters). Must have or be able to obtain California Elementary Multiple Subject Credential and a Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) authorization in Mandarin. Applicants with certification from other states must be prepared to apply for a California teaching credential, and to pass all associated exams.
