Florida Forestry Teacher’s Tour Accepting Applications Teachers’ applications are currently being accepted for the Florida Forestry Teachers’ Tour, a four-day exploration of forestry in Florida. The Florida Forestry Teachers’ Tour will bring 45 teachers from across the state to Fernandina Beach to experience the wonders of Florida’s forests and forest industry; all while earning 30 Continuing Education Units. The tour will empower teachers with knowledge about private tree farms, harvesting and wood products that Floridians use every day. Teachers will have the hands-on experience and knowledge to integrate forestry into their classroom. All tour meals and hotels are provided, free-of-charge. Science Without Borders Challenge Inspire your students to learn about science using art! The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation is proud to announce that “Reef Relationships” is the theme for this year’s Science without Borders Challenge. The Science without Borders Challenge is a yearly art competition that engages students to promote the need to preserve, protect, and restore the world’s oceans and aquatic resources. The international competition is open to all students 11-19 years old. To participate, challengers must submit an original piece of artwork by Monday, April 27, 2015. FMSEA Awards FMSEA annually recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions towards moving the field of marine science forward, who provide outstanding marine science education and who want to share their successes with other practitioners. 2015 FMSEA Annual Conference Registration is open for our 2015 FMSEA Annual Conference that will be held in Tampa on April 30 to May 3, 2015. Early bird registration rate is $ 155 for annual members and $ 130 for lifetime members. Registration link and hotel information can be found on our website.
FMSEA invites you to propose a session at our 2015 conference. Topics on marine and ocean conservation, new and innovative marine science content, research, activities and curriculum are encouraged. All concurrent sessions will be Saturday, May 2. Please complete and submit a Call for Presenters form by: 5:00 PM March 15, 2015. Notification of accepted proposals will be sent during the following week of March.
