UA Law Hosts Central States Law School Association Conference Posted on October 29, 2013 The University of Arkansas School of Law hosted the Central States Law School Association’s (CSLSA) 2013 Scholarship Conference on October 4th and 5th. Professor Elizabeth Young, who directs and teaches the Immigration Clinic, served as the conference host and President of CSLSA for 2013-14.
Approximately 39 professors, representing 21 different law schools, attended this year’s conference. Each attendee presented a work of scholarship in panels on wide-ranging topics from International and Criminal Law, to Gender and the Law, and Law School Pedagogy. The theme of the conference was “Writing What You Do,” highlighted by a panel discussing how to use non-traditional experiences to develop legal scholarship.
On Friday night, attendees heard from keynote speaker and University of Missouri School of Law Professor Douglas Abrams about extracurricular writing in non-legal forms. The conference was topped off by a hockey game where the Arkansas team, coached by the law school’s own Professor Brian Gallini, handily defeated RMU-Springfield.
CSLSA will present its 2014 scholarship conference in Baton Rouge at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center. More information on CSLSA can be found at www.cslsa.us.
